Goa has a consistent climate throughout the year with fluctuations in the temperature and humid weather. In summer the temperatures can reach as high as 33° C and there are monsoon rains from June to September. Goa has a short winter, lasting only from from December to February, with temperatures averaging around 25° C.

The main feature of the Goan climate is the monsoon, which occurs in early June and carries on till September. The average rainfall received by Goa during monsoons is around 300 to 330 cm. One of the best reason to visit Goa during the monsoon is the pleasant weather and the vibrant festivals that take place. The most popular festival, Sao-Joao (the fertility feast of Saint John the Baptist) is celebrated in late June. Most of the hotels / resorts / tour operators offer monsoon season special tour packages.

After the monsoon, the skies clear once more and the weather remains perfect for the next four to five months with lots of sunshine. Beaches are the best in Goa in the winter months between October and March. This is also the time Goa is most frequented by tourists. The weather during this period is amazingly pleasant. Summers are from April and May, and it can be very hot and humid, though being in the coastal region, the gentle sea breeze is a welcome soother.

Better to avoid monsoon season for a visit to Goa as there is heavy rainfall accompanied with high levels of humidity. It is only after the monsoon that the tourists start to throng the beaches. Winters and spring season is the best time to visit Goa.
